Mathura Gamana

Mathura Gamana by Sridhar Nayak captures the departure of Krishna and Balarama from Vrindavan, a defining passage from the Bhagavata Purana rendered in the classical Pattachitra tradition of Raghurajpur, Odisha. The ornate chariot, weeping devotees, gopis, and sacred trees are drawn into a single composed farewell, balanced between grief and divine purpose. Painted on handmade cloth canvas using pigments from stone and natural substances, the work measures 30 × 20 inches and required approximately 175 hours to complete. Authenticated and sourced directly from the hereditary artist community of Raghurajpur.
